The team of intrepid runners and supporters

As 2011 comes to a close it is almost time for the team for this year's "fourdaysrunning" adventure to be announced. The accommodation has been booked, the recce has been organised and the turkey is weighing heavily on the midriff!! 2012 is in sight!!

Many have already committed and you know who you are!! The closing date for joining the team will be January 1st. The recce visit to Hadrian's Wall is on January 4th and we will take a close look at the accommodation, test out the food and see what real ale is in the man's fridge!! We will also take a close look at the Wall and see what glories await us as we prepare to stride out on the ancient World Heritage site itself.

If you're still wavering, now is the time to commit. It will be the trip of a lifetime.

How's the planning going?

The route is now completed in final draft and is looking more like 110K than the original 100K. Still, we like a challenge!! The first day will be the now traditional kilomathon (26.2K), known to us as a killerthon!! But, no rest for the wicked, we follow that with a record breaking day two that tops up at 30K. This will be a new first for the fourdaysrunning crew.

I have booked a 3 star bunkhouse which will end day two and provide accommodation for all three nights. It is on the route, in the middle of nowhere, has great reviews (and views) and was still available!! I have booked the whole place (maximum of 12 people) and will confirm by December 10th. If you are planning to come then I need your confirmation in the next week or two.

Finally, use the Amazon link when you do your Christmas shopping and 5% will go to CASPA, our main charity on the "fourdaysrunning" events.

Asics are the top name

When I started running in 2002 I decided to take my choice of running shoes very seriously. I did a flow chart self-assessment and it revealed the need for motion control shoes. The recommendation of my local running shop was the Asics 21 series. Since then, I've had 2120, 2130, 40, 50 and now 2160s. They fit me like a glove and even at 16 stone they give me a wonderful ride.

I certainly wouldn't have been able to run 250K in ultra runs without them. No blisters, no problems. I would advise any runner to check their shoes. The time you take and the money you spend will pay massive dividends. You will still be in the running when others have given up.

Hitting the Wall

The 2012 challenge - to raise money for CASPA by running the ancient, unique and hilly, hilly Hadrian's Wall.

The fourdaysrunning team have done London to Brighton (2010), legged it round the Isle of Wight (2011) and raised over £15,000 for young people with Autism but 2012 is the biggest yet!!

Many people chipped in money and support on our previous runs so we have made more ways available this time. Justgiving, Amazon and Facebook are all partners. So, there are three main ways to support us as we raise money for CASPA - the charity that changes the lives of young people with Autism.

The Isle of Wight conquered!!

Four days and 65 miles later and the crew were back in Cowes with many, many strides behind them. The beaches, boats, high streets, trails, beautiful views and, of course, the hills were long forgotten as the crowd at the finish roared them in!! A memorable experience for all the runners and a joy to meet so many generous Islanders.

Once the money is counted, the "fourdaysrunning" team will be turning their eyes to the north and the next challenge - the one and only Hadrian's Wall. Stay with us on the blog for details as we build up towards May 2012.

Martin Ruiz the long distance King!!

Welcome back this year to Martin Ruiz!! He is the only runner to have completed all the "fourdaysrunning" challenges. By the end of the Isle of Wight circumnavigation, he will have run 250K in the company of Ivor Reveley - to be honest, that's enough for anyone!!

If you would like to put a spring in his step then sponsor him now at the link on the right or buy through Amazon - every little helps!! (that's someone else!!)

Niall Ross takes on the Island

Niall Ross is a fast 10K runner but this challenge requires staying power. Niall is convinced that 25K a day for four days is very possible and he aims to prove it in 10 days time. The "fourdaysrunning" team are heading for the Isle of Wight (and then running round it!!) so help them raise money this year by clicking the "Justgiving" button on this page.

We are all raising money for young people with Autism, so please give generously.

Dave Moore joins the team

Dave is a seasoned runner and fundraiser. This is his second "fourdaysrunning" following the 100K from London to Brighton last year. As a former boxer, Dave knows how to "go the distance" so help him raise money this year by clicking the "Justgiving" button on this page.

We are all raising money for young people with Autism, so please give generously.

Fit, fat and fifty three

Twelve weeks till the start of the Isle of Wight challenge and some weight needs to be lost!! It's one thing doing over a half marathon a day for four days but carrying fifteen stone ten pounds is another!!

The diet and fitness regime starts today - careful eating, plenty of water and pushing the runs up to two a week. We've done 100K in four days once and we'll do it again.

There are seven runners signed up and more are welcome. Support us if you can - click the JustGiving button, buy through the Amazon button or share this site with your friends.

2011 launch at the Curry House

The excitement is building as we head towards April 29, 2011. No, not the royal wedding (!!), but the start of this year's "four days running" adventure. We are running round the Isle of Wight!!

This is an endurance challenge and a way of raising funds for our charities. Last year we raised over £6,500 for CASPA, our Charity for young people with Autism PLUS other amounts for other charities. This year we are looking to raise money again. If you want to get us off to a flying start then click the JUSTGIVING button on the right.

Finally, it is a lot of fun. We are a team of all ages enjoying the delights of the Isle of Wight. All the main beauty spots will be covered so if you want to run?? Get in contact!!
